Academics ETC. helps high school students build their winning college applications.  We have extensive detailed knowledge of the process and years of experience in admissions and higher education. We can begin working with students as early as their freshman year of high school to organize an appropriate course of study given your student’s academic goals.

The process includes:

• Review and recommendation of specific high school classes (Regular, Honors or Advanced Placement).
• Assess student’s strengths and areas needing improvement.  Discuss areas of interest and goals.
• Examination of the key elements of the application process, its requirements, options and alternatives.
• We will discuss techniques for making your transcript reflect both the demands of your classes and your long-term commitments.
• We will work with the student to understand their interests, ambitions and goals in order to create a target list of best-fit colleges.  Factors including location, size, cost, majors, facilities, housing, activities, student to faculty ratio, quality of the department for your area of study, admission, retention and graduation rates. Also considered are research opportunities, internships, and career services available.
• We coach students on writing a personal statement and supplemental essays that can distinguish them from the thousands of other applicants.  We will help identify and lay out the student’s unique story, and assist in writing compelling narratives, answers, and supplements to make the best possible impact on admissions officers.
• We create customized lists to track every aspect of the process and meet regularly to ensure that students stay ahead of schedule and finish their applications early.
• We have experience with each type of application. We will help you understand how college applications work, what components are required, and how to maximize the way you are presented. From letters of recommendation to activities resumes, we will help you through it all. Students can greatly benefit from our guidance from start to finish.
